Cylinder Liner Inspection: Wear, Ovality and Taper Explained
Cylinder liner inspection measures bore wear at multiple heights and directions to assess wear, ovality, and taper. Visual inspection also checks scuffing, corrosion, cracks, cloverleaf wear, surface finish, and lubrication condition before deciding whether honing, continued use, or replacement is appropriate.
What is measured during liner inspection?
- Bore diameter at specified measurement heights
- Ovality by comparing readings across different directions
- Taper by comparing readings at different heights
- Surface condition, honing marks, scuffing, and polishing
- Top wear ridge, corrosion, cloverleaf wear, and crack evidence
